Ricky Gervais is clearly not one to hold back his thoughts. And he certainly set tongues wagging (and clucking) with his hosting duties at last year's Golden Globes Awards.
But according to the "Office" star, he made the surprising decision to host the ceremony again this year in hopes of a little silence.

Gervais has fired up his blog to explain his return to the Golden Globes stage, revealing that he took the gig to muzzle the naysayers who said that he was persona non grata after last year's insult-laden appearance.
"What actually tipped the balance and made me say yes, was the fact that it would shut up all those f—-ng idiots who said that I'd never be invited back," Gervais shared. "Is that the wrong reason to do something? Ha ha. I think it is."
Gervais also promised to ratchet up the offensiveness this time around, in apparent revenge for what he sees as the unjust criticism he received.
"The outrage I caused was of course, as usual, totally out of proportion to the things I said. I don't think anyone had any right to be offended but they were," Gervais opined. "This year I'm going to make sure their offense is completely justified."
Mind you, this is coming from a guy who, during his last turn on the Golden Globes stage, wisecracked that he helped then-Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. president Philip Berk get off the toilet and put in his teeth prior to the show.
Gervais had better make it count this time, and not just to satiate the outrage-thirsty masses; the funny-man adds that this go-round will be his "third and definitely final time" hosting the awards ceremony.
The good news? Gervais is soliciting help from his fans to decide who he should skewer on his next Globes hosting gig.
