Relativity Studios’ executive VP of production and development Richard Potter has exited the company, TheWrap has learned.
A source close to Relativity confirmed Potter’s departure and told TheWrap that a replacement is expected to be named shortly. Potter will continue to consult on select projects at the studio.
Potter wrote on Facebook that “Relativity is making changes and this is one of them. It is not a contentious split in anyway.” He later deleted any mention of Relativity making changes, though there has been movement in the company’s executive ranks, as it recently hired Tommy Gargotta as president of theatrical marketing and Candice McDonough as executive VP of theatrical publicity at Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution.
Potter had been reporting to Relativity’s president of production Robbie Brenner. He previously worked at Miramax and Dimension Films, and he also has several screenwriting credits.
Relativity continues to move towards an IPO, having recently raised a $250 million round of financing from San Francisco-based VII Peaks Capital.
