Fresh off a trio of Oscar nominations for “Boyhood,” Richard Linklater is in talks to direct “Where’d You Go, Bernadatte” for Megan Ellison‘s Annapurna Pictures, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
“The Fault in Our Stars” screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber adapted Maria Semple’s 2012 bestseller.
“Bernadette” follows an agoraphobic architect who disappears right before a family trip to Antarctica. Her teenage daughter narrates the story, which unfolds via emails, letters, FBI documents and correspondence with a psychiatrist.
Ellison is producing with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, which produces the “Hunger Games” franchise.
Linklater is already working with Ellison and Annapurna, which produced his “spiritual sequel” to “Dazed and Confused” titled “That’s What I’m Talking About.” He’s represented by CAA, Anonymous Content and attorney John Sloss.
