Vince Vaughn and David O. Russell are in talks to work together on "Old St. Louis," a drama written by Russell that Universal may co-finance and distribute, according to fairly speculative story on Deadline.
TheWrap's attempts to confirm the report with the duo's representation at CAA were not immediately returned on Thursday afternoon.
The film would cast Vaughn as a traveling salesman and absentee father whose life changes when his daughter re-enters the picture.
"Kick-Ass" star Chloe Moretz has apparently been mentioned as a possibility to play the daughter along with several other young actresses, but she has hardly committed to the project.
Vaughn will produce with his sister Victoria Vaughn through their production company Wild West Picture Show Productions, which is based at Universal.
It's possible that Russell could make "Old St. Louis" his follow-up to "The Fighter," the Mark Wahlberg-Christian Bale boxing drama that has strong early buzz and will be released in December by Paramount.
Vaughn's last appearance in a drama was a supporting role in 2007's "Into the Wild." He next stars opposite Kevin James in Ron Howard's infidelity comedy "The Dilemma." Vaughn is also producing that Universal picture with Imagine's Brian Grazer.
