Kelsey Grammer to Ex: Keep the Girl, I’ll Take Our Son

Former “Frasier” star makes a King Solomon-like proposal in child-custody proceedings

Kelsey Grammer is hoping to divide his child-custody arrangements with ex-wife Camille Grammer along gender lines, TMZ reports.

According to a letter from the former "Frasier" star's lawyer, dated April 29, Kelsey is seeking custody of the couple's 6-year-old son, Jude Gordon, and suggesting that Camille receive custody of their nine-year-old daughter, Mason Olivia.

The letter reads, in part, "Kelsey proposes…Commencing the week of May 16, 2011, Kelsey shall have primary physical custody of Jude and Camille shall have primary physical custody of of Mason. The parties shall share joint legal custody of both children," The legal missive goes on to note that the actor wishes to enroll Jude in a school in Chicago, where Grammer is filming his upcoming Starz series, "Boss."

The letter also suggests that a mental-health professional should evaluate the proposed arrangement in May 2012 to determine what effect it is having on the children.

In a statement furnished to TheWrap, Kelsey's publicist said, "Despite the fact that those connected with Camille Grammer seem to be hand-delivering confidential documents to TMZ and other media outlets, we will continue not to make public statements about their private matters which can and apparently does beg for misinterpretation. There is no valid reason to drag the Grammer children into any media spotlight."

The actor's divorce attorney had no comment for TheWrap. Requests for comment from Camille's divorce attorney were not immediately returned.
