Report: Bacon in Talks to Play Villain in ‘X-Men: First Class’

Nicholas Hoult and Caleb Landry Jones have officially joined the cast of Matthew Vaughn’s superhero prequel

After weeks of rumors, speculation and innuendo, it looks like the cast of Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class" is finally coming together.

It seems that Kevin Bacon has reportedly been offered the villain role and is negotiating to join the ensemble, although it's unclear which character he would be playing.

We previously knew James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Alice Eve are set to star as Professor X, Magneto and Emma Frost, respectively.

Additionally, TheWrap has now confirmed that "A Single Man" star Nicholas Hoult (right) will play the brainy, brawny Beast (meaning Ben Walker will remain relegated to the stage) and "Friday Night Lights" actor Caleb Landry Jones will play Banshee.

On May 17, "Kick-Ass" star Aaron Johnson was photographed with Vaughn and McAvoy, prompting speculation that he would be playing Cyclops. However, on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly debunked those reports, as well as rumors that Fox checked on the availability of "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner.

EW went out to mention that Lucas Till ("Hannah Montana: The Movie") is in negotiations to play Havok, Cyclops' younger brother.

Other rumors floating around the Internet include Amber Heard as Mystique (Deal Central has been told in the past that this was not true), Kevin Pellington (who?) as Multiple Man (double who?) and Rosamund Pike as Moira McTaggert.

Expect the rest of the "First Class" cast to be announced in the coming weeks, as production on the "X-Men" prequel is scheduled to begin next month in London.

20th Century Fox will release the film on June 3, 2011.

Stay tuned to Deal Central for the latest on what is actually going on with this movie.
