Relativity Sets ‘Immortals’ Graphic Novel

The studio teams with Archaia Entertainment to create a hardcover anthology that expands on the characters in its upcoming “Immortals” movie

Relativity Media and Archaia Entertainment are working together to produce and publish a graphic novel anthology based on the studio's upcoming movie "Immortals."

The hardcover graphic novel will include original stories written and illustrated by David Mack ("Kabuki"), Ron Marz ("Witchblade"), Dennis Calero ("Dark Tower") and Ben Templesmith ("30 Days of Night").

Archaia's Black Label division, which works with the entertainment industry, will publish the hardcover anthology.

Joe LeFavi, of Quixotic Transmedia, facilitated the partnership. LeFavi is the former head of publishing and development at the Jim Henson Company.

He will be executive editor of the graphic novel.

The movie is about the Greek warrior Theseus, played by Cavill, who is secretly chosen by Zeus to save his people from the evil Hyperion.

In a written statement, Relativity's president of theatrical marketing and distribution said, "We could not be more proud to form our creative partnership with Archaia, a publisher that has successfully earned industry-wide acclaim for its commitment to quality and fans of genre entertainment."

"Immortals" stars Henry Cavill ("Superman: Man of Steel"), Luke Evans ("Robin Hood"), Kellan Lutz ("Twilight"), Isabel Lucas ("Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"), Freida Pinto ("Slumdog Millionaire") and Mickey Rourke ("The Wrestler").

Tarsem Singh, who is directing Relativity's upcoming "Snow White" movie, directed the film, which is set for a Nov. 11, 2011 release.

The movie is produced by Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton and Ryan Kavanaugh.
