Relativity Promotes Kyle Davies to President, Worldwide Distribution

The former Overture executive moves up from president, theatrical distribution

Relativity Media has promoted Kyle Davies to president of worldwide distribution, the studio announced Monday.

Davies, who moved to Relativity when the company acquired Overture's distribution infrastructure last year, steps up from the role of president, theatrical distribution.

He'll report to Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh and to president Steve Bertram. Bertram, the company's former CFO and COO, was promoted to president in May.

A month earlier, in April, Relativity announced that Peter Adee, its president of theatrical marketing and distribution, was leaving the studio. His last day in the job was June 1. Former Disney and Revolution Studios exec Terry Curtin was hired as president, theatrical marketing.

In a written statement, Bertram said, "Kyle is a seasoned distribution executive who's built long-standing relationships with exhibitors and has had a successful track record in distributing films across a multitude of genres."

Relativity Announces Promotion in Theatrical Distribution
Kyle Davies upped to President, Worldwide Distribution

(Beverly Hills, CA) June 20, 2011 – Relativity Media announced today the promotion of Kyle Davies to President, Worldwide Distribution, reporting directly to Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh and President Steve Bertram. Davies previously served as President, Theatrical Distribution.

Davies has helped guide Relativity from being a financing and producing entity into a full-fledged studio by leading its distribution operation. Davies will continue to oversee all domestic theatrical distribution strategies and will work closely with Relativity’s foreign output partners. Davies most recently shepherded the box office hit Limitless and is currently working on the upcoming Shark Night 3D, Immortals, Act of Valor, Haywire, House At The End of The Street, Untitled Raven Project, Untitled Snow White, Untitled Farrelly/Wessler Project, and Safe Haven.

Davies has been President, Theatrical Distribution since he was promoted from Executive Vice President, Theatrical Distribution after Relativity acquired Overture Films’ marketing and distribution assets in 2010. While at Overture, Davies oversaw the distribution of such films as Law Abiding Citizen, Brooklyn’s Finest, The Visitor, and The Crazies.

Prior to working at Overture, Davies was Senior Vice President of the Western distribution division at Paramount Pictures. He joined Paramount following its purchase of DreamWorks Pictures, where he had been Senior Vice President, Distribution. Before joining DreamWorks, Davies worked for exhibitors including National Amusements and General Cinema.

In making the announcement Kavanaugh commented, “As Relativity focuses more of our energies into our home-grown slate, we are committed to anchoring an even stronger foothold in the distribution arena, and Kyle Davies’ promotion continues to bolster that effort.”

Bertram added, “Kyle is a seasoned distribution executive who’s built long-standing relationships with exhibitors and has had a successful track record in distributing films across a multitude of genres. We’re fortunate to have him on Relativity’s team as we continue to strengthen our distribution unit.”

Said Davies, “I look forward to working alongside our incredible foreign output partners who are among the best in the business, as we head into the busy fall and first quarter schedule.”
