October was a very good month indeed to be a screenwriter.
On Monday, TheWrap reported 18 screenplays were purchased in the month, the highest amount in five years.
Well, the final number is even bigger. A whopping 20 specs — screenplays written without a contract — were sold in the month, according to ItsontheGrid.com, a division of TheWrap.

In total, CAA represented the largest number of sales with seven, the highest monthly tally since ItsontheGrid.com started tracking the market.
Eight different studios bought specs last month, with Warner Brothers nabbing an impressive 4 scripts.
Through October, 88 spec scripts have been snatched up – more than the number that sold in all of 2009 or 2010.
