Ratings: Ripped From the Headlines? ‘Good Wife’ Season Finale Up 25%

CBS’ philandering politician-themed drama is up big; NBC’s new singing sensation “The Voice” down narrowly but still Tuesday’s top show

With the days headlines running parallel to its narrative core, CBS' "The Good Wife" enjoyed a huge ratings boost for its season finale Tuesday, spiking 25 percent over both last year's season closer and last week's episode.

NBC's hit singing competition "The Voice," meanwhile, continued its reign at the top of the ratings Tuesday.

NBC began the evening with "The Biggest Loser" from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., which nabbed a 2.8 rating/8 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, up 8 percent from the previous week's performance.

"The Voice" at 10 p.m. was down 4 percent from last Tuesday, but nonetheless was the top-rated show of the evening, grabbing a 4.5/11 in the demo and 9.8 million total viewers.

Over at CBS, beyond "The Good Wife," the series finales of "NCIS," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and also posted solid gains, both compared to last week and the previous year's finales.

"NCIS" at 8 p.m. grabbed a 3.8/11 in the demo — an 8 percent climb from the previous week, and a 15 percent climb from last year's season closer — and 18 million total viewers.

"NCIS: LA" the following hour took a 3.2/8, up 14 percent from the previous week, and 19 percent from last season's finale — with 15.3 million total viewers.

ABC's formerly dominant "Dancing With the Stars" tied for third place (splitting the rank with "Glee") with its 9 p.m. results show, posting a 3.5/9 in the demo and 17.7 million total viewers.

(A "DWTS" recap show the previous hour took a 2.4/7 in the demo and 13.4 million total viewers.) The evening closed with the season finale of "Body of Proof" at 10 p.m., which grabbed a 2.2/5 in the demo and 10.4 million total viewers.

Fox kicked off the evening with "Glee" at 8 p.m., which was down 5 percent from last week with a 3.5/10 in the demo and 8.7 million total viewers.

"Raising Hope" was up 10 percent from last week with a 2.2/6 in the demo and 5.5 million total viewers, while "Breaking In" at 9:30, whose future has been in the balance, took a hit in its new time slot (it previously ran on Wednesdays at 9:30. following "American Idol"), taking a 1.4/3 in the demo compared to last Wednesday's 2.4/6, with 3.3 million total viewers.

("Breaking In"'s performance was, however, an 8 percent improvement over "Traffic Light"'s showing in the same slot last Wednesday.)
