NBC's "The Voice" dropped off from Monday night's premiere, though it still drew Tuesday night's top ratings, according to preliminary numbers. CBS grabbed an overall win for the night.
Tuesday's episode of "The Voice" posted a 3.9 rating/12 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic — down 19 percent from Monday's premiere, but up 22 percent from last spring's Tuesday premiere in April.
That was good enough to make the show the and the night's best-rated program.
It drew 12 million total viewers — a 12 percent dip from Monday's premiere, but up 42 percent from last April's Tuesday premiere.
"Go On" at 9 posted a 2.1/5 and took 5.6 million total viewers, while "The New Normal" at 9:30 drew a 1.4/4 with 3.6 million total viewers. "Smash," which will be relegated to Saturday nights starting April 5, was up 43 percent from last week, albeit to a weak 1.0/3, and took 3.1 million total viewers. All told, NBC took second place in ratings and third in total viewers with a 2.2/6 and 6.6 million.
CBS came in first in ratings and total viewers with a 2.4/7 and 13.5 million. "NCIS" at 8 drew a 3.1/9 and was the night's most-watched show with 18 million total viewers, while "NCIS: LA" the following hour dropped 10 percent to tie a season low of 2.6/7 and had 14.3 million total viewers. "Golden Boy" at 10 dropped 18 percent, drawing a 1.4/4 with 8 million total viewers.
ABC tied Fox for third in ratings with a 1.9/5 and was second in total viewers with 9.8 million. "Splash" at 8 dropped off 38 percent from last week's series premiere for a 1.6/5 and took 6.7 million total viewers. While the "Dancing With the Stars" results show at 9 drew a 2.3/6 and had 13 million total viewers. "Body of Proof" the following hour climbed 13 percent for a 1.7/4 and had 9.6 million total viewers.
Fox, in fourth place in total viewers with 4 million, aired "Hell's Kitchen" at 8, which was down slightly from last week with a 1.9/6 and took 4.6 million total viewers. "New Girl" at 9 was also down slightly, taking a 2.2/6 with 4.3 million total viewers, while "The Mindy Project" at 9:30 dipped 12 percent to a 1.5/4 and took 2.8 million total viewers.
