Highlights from last week’s ratings numbers:
• “True Blood’s” season three finale Sunday was watched by 5.4 million viewers in its initial broadcast. This season, the vampire drama emerged as HBO’s biggest hit with a series high average gross audience (counting DVR and On Demand plays) of 12.7 million viewers. Though the final episode was down 60,000 viewers from the series high performance Sept. 5, it was up 5 percent from last season’s finale.
• History scored its biggest week in history from Sept. 6-12 thanks to the hit reality shows “Pawn Stars” and “American Pickers.” To date, History is the fastest growing cable network among all key demos compared with the first nine months of last year.
• Saturday’s episode of the Nickelodeon series “iCarly,” which featured a guest appearance from “Glee” star Jane Lynch, was watched by 5.9 million viewers. The episode was basic cable’s top entertainment telecast Saturday night. It was also the top telecast with all kid and tween demographics for the week. Lynch played Pam Puckett, the slightly eccentric mother of one of the characters.
• Spanish-language broadcaster Univision beat the big four every night last week in the adults 18-34 demographic as well as the key adults 18-49 demographic. Overall, Univision finished the week as the number three primetime network in both demographics.
