“The Voice” crowned a champion on Tuesday, with NBC claiming a win of its own in the process. The network that houses the singing competition topped last night’s primetime demo ratings, though CBS finished first in total viewers.
The reality show was down double-digits in the key demo from last year’s fall finale, and slightly below the spring edition’s per the same metric. That means Tuesday’s show is currently sitting at an all-time low for a “Voice” finale, but that may rise in the final numbers to at least eclipse the spring cycle.
NBC was first in ratings with a 2.6 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in viewers with an average of 10.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Elf! Buddy’s Musical Christmas” at 8 p.m. had a 1.3/4 and 4.9 million viewers. “The Voice” at 9 scored a night-high 3.2/10 — which is down 20 percent from last fall’s finale — and had 12.7 million viewers.
CBS was second in ratings with a 1.8/6 and in viewers with 13.3 million. “NCIS” at 8 earned a 2.3/8 and primetime-best 17.2 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 9 received a 1.9/5 and 14 million viewers. “Person of Interest” at 10 got a 1.3/4 — down 24 percent from the most recent original — and 8.8 million viewers.
ABC and Fox tied for third in ratings, both with a 1.2/4. ABC was third in total viewers with 4.4 million, Fox was fourth with 3.7 million.
ABC aired entirely reruns.
For Fox, “MasterChef Junior” at 8 had a 1.7/6 and 5.5 million viewers. Repeats followed.
Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in total viewers with 2.5 million.
Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and seventh in total viewers with 1.4 million.
The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/1 and sixth in total viewers with 1.5 million, airing reruns.
