CW’s “The Flash” got out of the gates quickly on Tuesday night, leading the network to a third-place finish in the key demo. The superhero show’s 1.8 rating/6 share in the 18-49 demographic and 4.5 million total viewers marked its biggest series premiere since 2009’s “The Vampire Dairies.”
Fox went the other way in primetime, falling to sixth place in both the demo and total viewers.
But let’s start at the top: NBC was first in ratings with a 2.3/7 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in viewers with an average of 8.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Voice” at 8 earned a 2.4/8 and 9 million viewers. “Chicago Fire” at 9 received a 2.1/7 and 8.4 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 2.2/7 and first in viewers with 14.1 million. At 8, “NCIS” scored night-highs with a 2.6/9 rating and 17.1 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 9 earned a 2.3/7 and 15.3 million viewers. “Person of Interest” at 10 pulled in a 1.6/5 and 9.8 million viewers.
The CW was third in ratings with a 1.5/5 and fourth in viewers with 3.7 million. “The Flash” debuted at 8, racing to those aforementioned totals. At 9, the season premiere of “Supernatural” received a 1.2/4 and 2.8 million viewers.
ABC was fourth in ratings with a 1.3/4 and third in viewers with 4.4 million. At 8, “Selfie” fell 31 percent from last week’s series premiere to a 1.1/4, and had 3.9 million viewers. At 8:30, “Manhattan Love Story” dropped 40 percent from its own debut a week ago to a 0.9/3 and had 3.2 million viewers. At 9, “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” got a 1.6/5 and 4.4 million viewers. “Forever” at 10 had a 1.3/4 and 5.1 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in total viewers with 2.9 million.
Fox was sixth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in total viewers with 2.2 million. Following a rerun, “New Girl” at 9 had a 1.3/4 and 2.6 million viewers. “The Mindy Project” at 9:30 got a 1.0/3 and 2.2 million viewers.
Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in total viewers with 1.4 million.
