Ratings: ‘Talent’ Comes Out on Top (But the Bad News Is …)

“America’s Got Talent” won a battle between three reality shows, but they all suffered a decline

"America's Got Talent" won a battle between three summer reality series on Wednesday night, the show beat "Big Brother" and "So You Think You Can Dance" to give NBC a much needed primetime ratings win.

All three shows posted declines from the previous week.

STAYING AFLOAT NBC is having a rough time with ratings this summer. "America's Got Talent" has been a lone bright spot, leading the network to win Tuesday night for four straight weeks.

"Talent" was Tuesday night's top show with a 2.6 rating/8 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic from 9-10 p.m., down 16 percent from last week. Overall, NBC averaged 2.0/6 from 10-11 p.m. on Tuesday night.

TECHNICALITY Fox's average ratings for the night were technically the highest. The network scored a 2.1/7 from 8-10 p.m. Fox finished slightly in front, but since the margins were slight and NBC's airs one more hour of primetime than Fox we gave them the win.

Fox aired a two-hour episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" that was the night's number three show behind "America's Got Talent" and CBS' "Big Brother." "So You Think You Can Dance" was down nine percent from last week.

BRONZE MEDAL CBS finished third with a new episode of "Big Brother" and repeats of "Criminal Minds" and "CSI NY." "Big Brother" was Tuesday night's number two program with a 2.2/8 score, down four percent from the previous week. Overall, CBS averaged 1.7/5 for the evening.

OFF NIGHT ABC finished in fifth place last night behind the other major broadcast networks and Spanish-language channel Univision with a 1.1/4. Univision scored a 1.6/5. ABC's Tuesday lineup consisted of re-runs of "The Middle," "Modern Family," "Cougar Town" and "Castle."
