"Nikita" got off to a solid start for CW, but the season two premiere of supernatural teen drama "The Vampire Diaries" was down from its debut last year.
"Vampire Diaries'" season two kickoff Thursday night posted a 1.6/5 in the key adults 18-49 demographic from 8-9 p.m., down 25 percent from the series premiere in Sept. 2009.
Spy thriller "Nikita" aired from 9-10 p.m. on Thursday. "Nikita scored a 1.4/4, down slightly from its "Vampire Diaries" lead-in in the key demo, although it was up about 9 percent in total viewers.
"Nikita" scored 14 percent higher than Wednesday night premiere of another new CW fall show– the college cheerleading drama "Hellcats."
Overall, the CW finished third on the primetime ratings Thursday night behind NBC and CBS with a 1.7/5 primetime average.
