Ratings: NBC Scores with Football as ‘Revenge,’ ‘Betrayal’ Match Lows

Drew Brees put up big numbers on the gridiron, NBC in the Nielsen data

Television’s most popular show once again delivered for NBC as “Sunday Night Football” topped Sunday night in both ratings and viewers.

NBC was first in ratings with a 5.7 rating/15 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in total viewers with an average of 15.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. Due to the nature of live sports, numbers for NBC, CBS and Fox are approximate.

Part 1 of “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m. earned a 2.0/6 and 5. 9 million viewers. Part 2 at 7:30 received a 3.2/9 and 9.4 million viewers. Part 3 at 8 got a 5.2/13 and 14.6 million viewers. The game itself, the Dallas Cowboys vs. the New Orleans Saints at 8:30, earned a 7.0/17  and 19.3 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 3.0/8 and in total viewers with 13.1 million. NFL overrun at 7 earned a 6.6/19 and 22 million viewers — the most in primetime. The overrun at 7:30 into “60 Minutes” received a 4.8/13 and 18 million viewers. “60 Minutes” continuation at 8 got a 3.3/8 and 15.1 million viewers. The show ran into “The Amazing Race” at 8:30, earning a 2.5/6 and 11.9 million viewers. “Amazing Race” continued at 9, getting a 2.0/5 and 9 million viewers. That show ran into “The Good Wife” at 9:30, earning a 1.8/4 and 9.6 million viewers. “The Good Wife” at 10 received a 1.6/4 and 10.2 million viewers. Its run into “The Mentalist” at 10:30 earned a 1.5/4 and 9.3 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 1.6/4 and fourth in total viewers with 3.6 million viewers. NFL overrun into a repeat at 7 earned a 1.3/4 and 3.7 million viewers. Another rerun followed. “The Simpsons” at 8 earned a 1.9/5 and 4.3 million viewers. “Bob’s Burgers” at 8:30 got a 1.5/4 and 3.2 million viewers. “Family Guy” at 9 received a 2.0/5 and 4.2 million viewers. At 9:30, “American Dad” had a 1.6/4 and 3.5 million viewers.

ABC was in fourth in ratings with a 1.4/4 and third in total viewers with 3.6 million. “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7 earned a 1.3/4 and 7 million viewers. At 8, “Once Upon a Time” received a 2.1/5– matching a season low — and 6.6 million viewers. “Revenge” at 9 got a 1.4/3 — tying a series low — and 5.5 million viewers. “Betrayal” at 10 had a 0.8/2 — matching its own series low — and 3.3 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in viewers with 3 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/1 and in total viewers with 1.1 million.
