Ratings: NBC Dominates Sunday Night With NFL Hall of Fame Game

Faceoff between Minnesota and Pittsburgh jumps 28 percent over last year’s football showdown

NBC scored a touchdown on Sunday night, easily dominating the ratings with the Hall of Fame Game matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers. Meanwhile, despite the football competition, CBS’ “Big Brother” managed to hit a season high, according to preliminary numbers.

While NBC’s numbers are approximate due to the nature of live sports, NBC currently holds a commanding lead in the key 18-49 demographic with a 2.7 rating/9 share and in total viewers with 8.3 million viewers. The Hall of Fame Game edition of “Sunday Night Football” drew a 3.2/11, a 28 percent boost over last year’s game, and averaged 9.6 million total viewers.

The network’s primetime roster was filled out by repeats of “Mr. Robinson” at 7 p.m. ET and 7:30 p.m. and a pre-kickoff special at 8, which posted a 3.1/11 and drew 10.2 million total viewers, making it the most-watched program of the night.

CBS was a distant second in ratings and total viewers, averaging a 1.0/4 and 5.7 million, respectively. After a “60 Minutes” repeat at 7 p.m., “Big Brother” the following hour posted a 2.1/7, up 11 percent from last week, with 6.7 million total viewers. The network’s night was rounded out by repeats.

ABC took third in ratings and total viewers for the night, with a 0.9/3 and 1.4 million respectively. Following an “America’s Funniest Home Videos” repeat at 7 p.m., “Bachelor in Paradise” inched up from last week to a 1.2/4 with 3.7 million total viewers. “Save My Life: Boston” at 10 dropped 25 percent to a 0.6/2 with 3.2 million total viewers.

Fox aired repeats for the night, coming in fourth in ratings and total viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings and total viewers with a 0.5/2 and 1.3 million, while Telemundo came in sixth, averaging a 0.4/1 and 943,000 total viewers for the night.
