Ratings: NBA Finals Score Big for ABC; ‘America’s Got Talent’ Premieres Strong

“Talent” returns to a 17 percent increase

The NBA Finals face-off between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat drew the evening's top ratings on Tuesday, while NBC had a robust night thanks to the back-to-back competition shows "The Voice" and "America's Got Talent," according to preliminary numbers.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals, airing at 9 p.m., scored a 5.5 rating/14 share in the adults 18-49 demographic and 12.8 million total viewers. The game was preceded by a special edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night" at 8, which drew a 2.2/7 in the demo and 6.2 million total viewers, followed by "NBA Countdown" at 8:30, which received a 2.8/8 in the demo and 6.9 million total viewers.

On NBC, "America's Got Talent" at 8 garnered a 4.2/12 in the demo, a 17 percent leap from last June's premiere of the series, and 14.9 million total viewers. "The Voice" at 10 climbed 29 percent in the ratings compared to its last airing on May 24, with a 4.9/13 in the demo and 14.3 million total viewers.

Fox's primetime roster consisted of a repeat of "Glee" at 8, which took a 1.0/3 in the demo and 2.8 million total viewers; a "Raising Hope" rerun the following hour, which also garnered a 1.0/3 in the demo, and 2.5 million total viewers; and a new episode of "Traffic Light" at 10, which had a 0.8/2 in the demo — down 38 percent compared to its last original airing on May 10 — and 2.2 million total viewers.

CBS ran repeats throughout the night, with an "NCIS" rerun at 8 receiving a 1.8/6 in the demo and 11.1 million total viewers; a previously aired "NCIS: Los Angeles" the following hour taking a 1.6/4 in the demo and 9.8 million total viewers; and a rerun of "The Good Wife" at 10 garnering a 0.9/2 in the demo and 6.1 million total viewers.
