Ratings: ‘Modern Family’ Pumps Up ‘Mr. Sunshine,’ ‘Off the Map’

“American Idol” wins again, but struggling ABC shows post gains

A new episode of ABC's "Modern Family" helped the struggling "Mr. Sunshine" and "Off the Map" post double-digit percentage ratings gains with 18-to-49-year-olds Wednesday.

As it always does, Fox's "American Idol" easily won the night, according to preliminary numbers. But "Mr. Sunshine," at 9:30 p.m., was up 22 percent to a 2.2 rating/6 share in the demo and 5.9 million total viewers.

"Off the Map," at 10, climbed 15 percent in the demo with a 1.5/4 and 4.5 million total viewers. 

"Modern Family," which aired a rerun last week, was the second-highest rated show of the evening in the demo, with a 4.3/12 and 10.8 million total viewers.

"American Idol" scored a 7.7/22 in the demo and 23 million total viewers in the 8-10 slot. Last week it drew a 7.4/21 in the demo with 22 million total viewers.

CBS' "Survivor: Redemption Island," dipped slightly at 8, scoring  3.0/9 and 10.8 million total viewers. "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" at 10 also slipped, with a 2.2/6 and 8.9 million total viewers.

NBC's game show "Minute to Win It" at 8 posted a 1.2/4 and 4.2 million total viewers versus last week's 0.9./3 and 3.3 million. A "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" repeat at 9 drew a 1.1/3 in the demo, while at 10, a new "SVU" earned 2.6/7 and 8.7 million total viewers, up from its last new episode, Feb. 23, when it had a 2.5/7 and 8 million.
