CBS topped an eventful Thursday that saw “American Idol” drop 17 percent to an all-time low against NBC’s “iHeartRadio Music Awards.”
ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” ticked up 13 percent with the return of former star Isaiah Washington.
CBS was first in ratings with a 2.2 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 9.4 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m., “The Big Bang Theory” earned a 4.4/16 and 15.7 million viewers — both highs for the night. “The Millers” at 8:30 received a 2.1/7 and 9.6 million viewers. “Two & a Half Men” at 9 had a 2.1/6 and 9.2 million viewers. At 9:30, “Bad Teacher” got a 1.5/4 — down 29 percent from last week’s debut — and 6.5 million viewers. “Elementary” at 10 received a 1.6/5 and 7.8 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.7/5 and third in viewers with 5.4 million. The “iHeartRadio Music Awards” at 8 was the only show on its schedule.
ABC was third in ratings with a 1.6/5 and second in viewers with 6.1 million. Following a rerun, “Grey’s Anatomy” at 9 earned a 2.6/8 and 8.7 million viewers. “Black Box” at 10 had a 1.3/4 and 5.4 million viewers.
Fox was fourth in ratings with a 1.4/5 and in viewers with 4.9 million. “Hell’s Kitchen” at 8 received a 1.6/6 and 4.4 million viewers. “American Idol” at 9 got a 1.5/5 and 6.9 million viewers. “Surviving Jack” at 9:30 had a 1.0/3 and 3.9 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in total viewers with 2.9 million.
The CW was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and 1.6 million viewers. “Vampire Diaries” at 8 tied a series low with a 0.7/3 and 1.8 million viewers. “Reign” at 9 had a 0.5/2 and 1.4 million viewers.
Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/1 and in total viewers with 1.2 million.
