Fox’s “Gotham” returned to the airwaves Monday night to take the night’s top ratings, while the season premiere of ABC’s “The Bachelor” pushed ABC to a tie with CBS for the night even while suffering a drop from last January’s premiere, according to preliminary numbers.

CBS and ABC shared first place in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, with CBS taking a 2.2/6 and ABC logging a 2.2/7. In total viewers, CBS was far and away the winner for the evening, averaging 11 million for the night.

CBS’s Monday night slate enjoyed growth across the board, starting with “2 Broke Girls” at 8, which climbed 14 percent from its most recent original on Dec. 15 with a 2.4/7, with 9 million total viewers. “Mike & Molly” at 8:30 grew 22 percent for a 2.2/6 and claimed 9.6 million total viewers. “Scorpion” at 9 was up 20 percent for a 2.4/7 with 12 million total viewers, while “NCIS: LA” the following hour climbed 19 percent for a 1.9/6 and 11.6 million total viewers.

ABC was second in total viewers with 7.7 million. The premiere of “The Bachelor,” which filled the network’s primetime slate, felt the pinch of steep competition from the other networks, posting a 2.2/7 — a 19 percent drop from last January’s premiere, and the lowest premiere rating on record for the series.

Fox was third in the demo and fourth in total viewers with a 2.0/6 and 5.7 million. In addition to “Gotham” at 8, which was up 9 percent in the demo from its last original airing in November with a 2.5/7 and climbed 17 percent in total viewers with 6.9 million, the network aired “Sleepy Hollow” at 9, which logged a 1.6/4 with 4.5 million total viewers.

NBC took fourth place in ratings and third in total viewers with an average 1.7/5 and 5.9 million. The time-period premiere of “Celebrity Apprentice” at 8 notched a 2.1/6 with 6.6 million total viewers, while “State of Affairs” a 8 posted a 1.0/3 with 4.5 million total viewers.
