Ratings: Fox Dances Its Way to a Win

Two-hour episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” wins the night, ABC’s “Happy Town” tanks

ABC had the highest ratings in fast national numbers for the first two nights of this week, but its streak broke on Wednesday.

Fox won the evening in the key adults 18-49 demo, earning an average 2.6 rating/9 share with a two-hour episode of "So You Think You Can Dance."

Fox got 24 percent more viewers in the key demo than the night's second-place network, NBC. The two-hour episode of "Dance" was the first performance show of the season.

BATTLE OF THE TALENT SHOWS "SYTYCD" didn't waltz away with a win in all four of its half-hours, however. It beat the CBS special "TV's Greatest Surprises," which was its only new competition from 8-9 p.m., but it lost out to a new episode of "America's Got Talent" on NBC in the 9 p.m. hour. "America's Got Talent" averaged a 3.0/9 in 18-49, compared with "SYTYCD's" 2.8/ 8 from 9-10 p.m on Wednesday.

UNHAPPY TRAILS The only new show on from 10-11 p.m. was ABC's small-town mystery "Happy Town," which came in last against repeats on NBC and CBS with an 18-49 score of 0.6/2. "Happy Town's" numbers were down 25 percent from last week. "Happy Town" was the only new show on ABC on Wednesday leading to an average of 0.9/3 and a last-place finish for the network.
