Ratings: ‘Chicago Med’ Debuts as Tuesday’s Top Scripted Show

Dick Wolf procedural spinoff fares 29 percent better than Season 3 “Chicago P.D.” premiere

“Chicago Med” just breathed new life into NBC’s Tuesday night schedule. The Dick Wolf spinoff procedural series debuted as last night’s top scripted primetime show, and fared 29 percent better than the Season 3 premiere of “Chicago P.D.”

With two “Chicago” shows and “The Voice,” NBC finished first in ratings last night, while CBS topped total viewers. The CW’s lineup slipped double digits from last week.

NBC was first in ratings with a 2.2 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 12.3 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Voice” at 8 p.m. earned a 2.6/9 and 11.1 million viewers. “Chicago Med” at 9 posted a 2.2/7 and 8.6 million viewers. “Chicago Fire” at 10 landed a 1.9/6 and 7.9 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 1.7/6 and first in viewers with 12.3 million. “NCIS” at 8 had a 2.1/7 and 16.5 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 9 got a 1.6/5 and 12.9 million viewers. “Limitless” at 10 received a 1.4/5 and 7.6 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in viewers with 3.3 million. “The Muppets” at 8 posted a 1.2/4 and 3.9 million viewers. “Fresh Off the Boat” at 8:30 had a 1.4/4 and 3.8 million viewers. “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” at 9 got a 1.3/4 and 3.6 million viewers. A rerun followed in the former “Wicked City” time slot.

Fox and the CW tied for fourth in ratings, both with a 0.9/3. Fox was fourth in total viewers with 2.5 million; CW was fifth with 2.3 million.

For Fox, “Grandfathered” at 9 had a 1.0/3 and 3 million viewers. “The Grinder” at 8:30 got a 0.9/3 and 2.4 million viewers. “Scream Queens” at 9 received a 0.9/3 and 2.4 million viewers.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 2.1 million.

Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.7 million.
