Ratings: ‘Big Brother’ Tops, but ABC Wins Night

“Wipeout” and “Rising Star” grow to hand ABC a victory in key demo

“Big Brother” took top honors on a Sunday night, scoring the night’s top numbers in the key 18-49 demographic and total viewers, while ABC rode rising “Wipeout” and “Rising Star” numbers to an overall win in the demo, according to preliminary numbers.

ABC was first in the demo with a 1.2 rating/4 share and second in total viewers with 4.7 million. Following a repeat of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7, “Wipeout” grew 18 percent from last week for a 1.3/4 and took 4.5 million total viewers. “Rising Star” at 9 was likewise up, jumping 17 percent for a 1.4/4 with 4.8 million total viewers. A “Castle” repeat rounded out the night.

CBS took second place in ratings with a 1.1/4 and first in total viewers with 6.2 million. After a “60 Minutes” repeat at 7, “Big Brother” the following hour climbed 11 percent for a 2.1/7 and took 6.7 million total viewers. “Unforgettable” in its new time period at 9 surged 29 percent from last week to a 0.9/3 with 6 million total viewers, while “Reckless” at 10 remained even with last week, taking a 0.6/2 with 4 million total viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 0.8/3 and fourth in total viewers with 2 million. Aside from a special airing of “Brain Games” at 7, which scored a 0.5/2 with 1.5 million total viewers, the network aired repeats.

NBC, which aired repeats throughout the night, was fourth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and third in total viewers with 2.5 million.
