Ratings: ‘Bad Teacher’ Has Not-Bad Debut, ‘Black Box’ Doesn’t Hold Viewers

CBS topped Thursday as new series “Bad Teacher” debuted to a 2.1, while ABC’s “Black Box” opened to a 1.5.

For NBC, the hour-long “Parks and Recreation” finale had a soft 1.0 rating.

CBS was first in ratings with a 2.4 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 9.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Big Bang Theory” at 8 p.m. had a night-high 4.3/16 and 16 million viewers. “The Millers” at 8:30 earned a 2.5/8 and 10.1 million viewers. “Two & a Half Men” at 9 received a 2.5/8 and 9.5 million viewers. “Bad Teacher” premiered at 9:30 to a 2.1/6 — marking the network’s second-lowest in-season comedy debut ever — and 7.9 million viewers. “Elementary” at 10 got a 1.6/5 and 8.1 million viewers.

Fox was second in ratings with a 1.5/5 and third in viewers with 5.3 million. “Hell’s Kitchen” at 8 had a 1.7/6 and 4.8 million viewers. “American Idol” at 9 received a 1.8/5 and 7.6 million viewers. “Surviving Jack” at 9:30 got a 1.0/3 and 3.9 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.4/4 and second in viewers with 5.7 million. Following a rerun, “Grey’s Anatomy” at 9 earned a 2.3/7 and 7.6 million viewers. The series debut of “Black Box” at 10 received a 1.5/4 and 6.6 million viewers.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 1.2/4 and in viewers with 2.9 million.

NBC was fifth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in total viewers with 2.5 million. The “Parks and Recreation” season finale at 8 got a 1.0/3 and 2.7 million viewers. A special, “SNL Digital Shorts,” had a 1.0/3 and 2.5 million viewers at 9.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 2 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in total viewers with 1.6 million. “Vampire Diaries” at 8 had a 0.7/3 and 1.8 million viewers. “Reign” at 9 had a boost to a 0.5/1 and 1.4 million viewers.
