Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" returned from a two-week hiatus with steady numbers to give the network a win Wednesday night, despite NBC's "America's Got Talent" delivering the strongest performance in both the key demo and total viewers, according to preliminary numbers.
"So You Think You Can Dance" gave Fox a win in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic with a 1.7 rating/5 share — even with the show's last original airing. The network placed third in total viewers with 4.7 million.
NBC drew a close second place in ratings and first in total viewers with a 1.6/5 and 6.2 million. Following a repeat of "America's Got Talent" at 8 p.m., a new episode pulled a 2.2/6 and 8.3 million total viewers, making it the highest-rated and most-watched program of the night. A "Law & Order: SVU" repeat followed.
Univision took third place in ratings and fifth in total viewers with a 1.5/4 and 3.4 million.
CBS came in fourth in ratings and second in total viewers with a 1.4/4 and 5.5 million. The network ran repeats with the exception of "Big Brother" at 8, which rose 11 percent in the ratings from last week, when it faced Olympics competition. It had a 2.1/7 and 5.8 million total viewers.
ABC, which ran reruns, came in fifth in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 1.2/4 and 3.6 million.
On the CW, the series premiere of "Oh Sit!" at 8 posted a 0.5/2 and 1.3 million total viewers. It was the network's highest-rated reality series premiere this year.
