NBC’s “The Voice” enjoyed a modest ratings boost over last week on Tuesday night, scoring the night’s top honors in the key demographic and helping to push the network to tie for first with CBS, which was the night’s most-watched network.
Meanwhile, the season finale of ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and the first part of the season finale for Fox’s “American Idol” took ratings hits, according to preliminary numbers.
Both CBS and NBC drew a 1.6 rating/5 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic, with CBS winning the night in total viewers with an average 12.3 million, versus NBC’s 6.7 million, which put that network in second place for total viewers.
CBS’s night started with the season finale of “NCIS” at 8 p.m, which posted a 1.9/7 with 14.7 million total viewers, while the season finale of “NCIS: New Orleans” the following hour drew a 1.7/5 with 13.5 million total viewers. At 10, a special airing of “CSI: Cyber” had a 1.2/4 with 8.7 million total viewers.
At NBC, “The Voice” at 8 drew the night’s highest rating with a 2.1/7, a minor bump over last week, and inched up in total viewers with 9 million. “Undateable” the following hour held even with last week’s live special, drawing a 1.3/4 and pulling in 4.1 million total viewers. “Chicago Fire” at 10 posted a 1.5/5 with 6.6 million total viewers.
ABC took third place in ratings and total viewers, averaging a 1.4/4 and 6 million, respectively. “Dancing With the Stars” at 8 grew modesly from last week, posting a 1.5/5 in the demo with 10 million total viewers, while the season finale of “Marvel’s Agents of ‘S.H.I.E.L.D” at 10 took a 13 percent tumble from last week for a series low of 1.3/4 with 4 million total viewers.
Fox tied for fourth with Univision in the demo and was fourth place in total viewers with a 1.2/4 and 4.4 million, respectively. “Hell’s Kitchen” at 8 held steady with last week for a 1.2/4 and drew 3.2 million total viewers. “American Idol,” which Fox announced this week will end its run after its upcoming 15th season, suffered a 14 percent drop from last week, also posting a 1.2/4 and taking 5.5 million total viewers at 9 p.m.
Univision was fifth place in total viewers with 3 million.
At The CW, which was sixth in ratings and total viewers with a 1.0/3 and 2.6 million, “The Flash” held even with a 1.4/5 and 3.5 million total viewers, while “iZombie” jumped 17 percent in the demo for a 0.7/2 and took 1.7 million total viewers.
Telemundo was seventh in ratings and total viewers with a 0.7/2 and 1.5 million.
