Though down slightly from its first Thursday of the season last week, 'American Idol' drew the night's top numbers Thursday, boosting 'Glee' after a six-week break and handing Fox an overall win for the night, according to preliminary numbers.
Fox drew first place in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic with a 3.9 rating/10 share and in total viewers with 11.2 million. "American Idol" at 8 p.m. posted a 5.1/14 — down six percent from last week — and drew 15.5 million total viewers. "Glee" the following hour drew a 2.7/7 — a 35 percent jump from its last original in mid-December — and took 6.9 million total viewers.
CBS, which tied ABC for second place in ratings and took second in total viewers with a 2.0/5 and 9.3 million, ran repeats throughout the night.
ABC took third place in total viewers with 6.7 million. The shelved drama "Last Resort" at 8 ended its run with a 20 percent jump over last week, drawing a 1.2/3 and taking 5.4 million total viewers. "Grey's Anatomy" the following hour drew a 3.0/8 and had 8.9 million total viewers. A "Scandal" repeat followed.
Univision came in fourth in ratings and total viewers with a 1.6/4 and 4 million.
NBC drew fifth place in ratings and total viewers with a 1.3/4 and 3.8 million. "30 Rock" at 8 was up slightly with a 1.4/4 and drew 3.8 million total viewers, while "Parks and Recreation" at 8:30 slid 11 percent from last week to a 1.7/5 and had 3.9 million total viewers. "The Office" at 9 had a 2.0/5 with 4.2 million total viewers, while the new comedy "1600 Penn" at 9:30 ticked up 8 percent for a 1.3/3 and took 3.3 million total viewers. "Rock Center With Brian Williams" at 10 tied a season low, dropping 27 percent to a 0.8/2 and taking 3.7 million total viewers.
