Ratings: ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ Debuts Big

“Cosmos” on Fox scores decent numbers

“Resurrection” had a very strong debut on Sunday, opening as TV’s top-rated midseason drama in two years and leading ABC to a primetime ratings victory.

For Fox, “Cosmos” premiered to a decent 2.1 rating in the key demo and had 5.8 million viewers. The science show premiered simultaneously across many networks and platforms, including Nat Geo — full numbers will be reported separately when available.

CBS was tops in viewers with 9.5 million.

ABC was first in ratings with a 2.2 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, and second in viewers with an average of 7.9 million, according to preliminary numbers.

At 7 p.m., the special “Once Upon a Time: Wicked is Coming” got a 1.2/4 and 4.4. At 8, “Once Upon a Time” earned a 2.3/7 — up 21 percent — and 7.3 million viewers. “Resurrection” at 9 received a 3.6/9 and 13.3 million viewers — both Sunday primetime highs. “Revenge” at 10 had a 1.9/5 — a 46 percent bump from its last original — and 6.5 million viewers.

Coming in second was Fox, with a 1.7/5 and fourth in viewers with 4.1 million. “Bob’s Burgers” at 7 got a 0.9/3 and 2.1 million viewers in its time period premiere. A special “Simpsons” at 7:30 had a 1.2/4 and 2.6 million viewers. At 8, in its regular timeslot, “The Simpsons” got a 1.6/5 and 3.7 million viewers. “Family Guy” at 8:30 received a 2.2/6 and 4.5 in its time period premiere. “Cosmos” followed.

Third place ratings-finish when to CBS, which earned a 1.6/5 and first in viewers with 9.5 million. At 7, “60 Minutes” had a 1.5/5 and 10.6 million viewers. “The Amazing Race” at 8 earned a 1.8/5 –up 20 percent — and 8.4 million viewers. “The Good Wife” at 9 got a 1.3/3 — down 28 percent — and 8.9 million viewers. “The Mentalist” at 10 received a 1.6/4 and 9.9 million viewers.

NBC placed fourth, with a 1.1/3 and third in viewers with 4.7 million. “Dateline” at 7 got a 1.1/4 and 5.5 million viewers; a rerun followed.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.8/2 and in total viewers with 2.2 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.3/1 and 719,000 viewers.
