Hulk Hogan was devastated to learn of Randy "Macho Man" Savage's death after finally reconnecting with his old rival, while "Rowdy" Roddy Piper said he was too "sad to tweet."
The wrestling greats remembered their fallen colleague Friday after Savage (real name: Randall Poffo) who died in Tampa, Fla., at the age of 58 after suffering a heart attack behind the wheel of his car and getting in an accident.

Wrestling great Hulk Hogan took to Twitter to offer his thoughts — and reflect on the bittersweet fact that he and Savage had recently reconnected after a decade-long estrangement.
"I'm completely devastated, after over 10 years of not talking with Randy, we've finally started to talk and communicate," Hogan wrote. "We miss him a lot. I feel horrible about the ten years of having no communication. This was a tough one."
Hogan concluded, "I just pray that Randy's happy and in a better place and we miss him."
Piper, meanwhile, wrote simply, "To [sic] SAD TO TWEET."
Though not a contemporary of Savage's, wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also paid respects on Twitter, writing, "RIP Randy 'Macho Man' Savage – you were one of my childhood inspirations and heros. Strength, love and prayers to the Savage/Poffo family."
WWE star Kevin Nash tweeted, "I lost a close friend today. If anybody in heaven is wondering who the cat in the ugly cowboy hat is it's Randy. Love you Bro. Never another."
World Wrestling Entertainment offered the following message on the home page of its Web site on Friday morning: "WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greatest Superstars of his time, Randy Poffo, a.k.a. Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. Poffo was under contract with WWE from 1985 to 1993 and held both the WWE and Intercontinental Championships. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. We wish a speedy recovery to his wife Lynn. Poffo will be greatly missed by WWE and his fans."
