“Raising Dion” has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix, the streaming service announced Thursday.

The Michael B. Jordan-produced superhero drama launched its first season in October. It follows a woman named Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) after the death of her husband, Mark (Jordan).

“The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities,” Netflix said. “Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.”

Production on the eight-episode second season of “Raising Dion” will begin this year, with Carol Barbee set to return as showrunner, according to Netflix. Jordan, Kenny Goodman, Kim Roth, Dennis Liu and Charles D. King, through his Macro production banner, will return as executive producers for Season 2.

Netflix revealed earlier this week that the first season of “Raising Dion” was one of its Top 10 Most Popular Series Releases of 2019 in the U.S. The streaming service said the show was also its No. 1 most popular domestic launch of the year among its new kids & family series titles.
