Steven Spielberg, who directed the film and helped with the Imax conversion, told the New York Times that the look of the film and the special effects would remain the same, though the audio has been changed to surround sound.

“When the boulder is rolling, chasing Indy through the cave, you really feel the boulder in your stomach, the way you do when a marching band passes by, and you’re standing right next to it,” he said.

Spielberg said he had no plans to do Imax conversions of the other “Indiana Jones” films or any of his other movies. He is converting his “Jurassic Park” to 3D for a rerelease next year.

Harrison Ford and Karen Allen starred in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." George Lucas executive produced.
