Update: An Instagram spokesperson told TheWrap on Monday afternoon the post was taken down by accident.
“We mistakenly removed content and we apologize for the inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson told TheWrap. “We worked to rectify the mistake as soon as we were notified and have already taken steps to prevent this from happening in the future.”
A picture of “Queer Eye” star Antoni Porowski was recently purged from Instagram for violating the picture app’s rules against pornography — despite the cooking hunk keeping at least some of his clothes on.
Here’s what happened: Photographer Damon Baker posted a pic of a shirtless Porowski putting his hands inside his Calvin Klein briefs last Friday. But before Baker’s post could rack up the “likes,” the picture was removed for violating the app’s Community Guidelines.
Baker then shared a warning message he received from Instagram on his Story: “We removed your post because it doesn’t follow our Community Guidelines on nudity or pornography. If you violate our guidelines again, your account may be restricted or disabled.”
Instagram didn’t immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on if the deletion was a mistake or if it would allow the picture to remain up if Baker or Porowski reposted it.
Porowski, who has gained a legion of fans this year while starring as the resident cooking hunk on “Queer Eye,” didn’t post the picture that got Baker in trouble, but did post several others from the shoot to his Instagram account.
And for those looking to see what caused all the fuss to begin with, Baker went ahead and posted several pictures, including the now-deleted underwear pic, on his Twitter feed.
The third season of “Queer Eye” will launch on Netflix in 2019.
