“Queens” wasn’t flush with viewers on Tuesday, when the ABC hip-hop drama debuted to just 1.8 million overall audience members. Still, led by the network’s two-hour Season 18 premiere of “The Bachelorette,” ABC finished first in primetime averages among adults 18-49.
But with two young-skewing shows on its schedule, ABC placed a distant third in terms of total viewers.
ABC was first in ratings with a 0.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, but third in total viewers with an average of 2.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8, “The Bachelorette” Season 18 opener earned a 0.7 and 2.8 million viewers. The series premiere of “Queens” — which stars Eve, Naturi Naughton, Nadine Velazquez and Brandy as four ’90s hip-hop legends, now in their 40s, who reunite for a chance to recapture their fame — received a 0.4 and 1.8 million viewers.
NBC was second in ratings with a 0.5 and first in total viewers with 5 million. At 8 p.m., “The Voice” scored a 0.6 rating and 6.5 million viewers. “La Brea” at 9 had a 0.5 and 5 million viewers. At 10, “New Amsterdam” ended the night with a 0.3 and 3.4 million viewers.
CBS was third in ratings with a 0.4 and second in total viewers with 3.8 million, airing all reruns.
Fox was fourth in ratings with a 0.3 and in viewers with 2.3 million. At 8, “The Resident” got a 0.4 and 3.2 million viewers. A new episode of freshman drama “Our Kind of People” at 9 managed a 0.3 and 1.4 million viewers.
The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.1 and in total viewers with 466,000. At 8, “DC’s Stargirl” settled for a 0.1 and 525,000 viewers. At 9, “Supergirl” also got a 0.1, but fell to 407,000 viewers.
