The biggest problem for characters in “The Purge” was keeping murderous maniacs out of the house. The main characters in “The Purge 2: Anarchy,” however, just want to get inside one.
The first trailer (above) for the sequel to last year’s high-concept, low-budget hit horror film sets up the bigger, potentially better premise focusing on a couple (Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez) whose car breaks down in the city just minutes before government-sanctioned chaos kicks off for 12 hours.

(Interesting omission: Frank Grillo, tapped as one of the leads in the film, does not appear … at least, not without a mask?)
Fans of the first should be excited at the prospect of witnessing the broader implications of The Purge when “Purge 2” brings more violent mayhem to theaters on June 20.
