(Spoiler alert: Please do not read on if you haven’t seen Tuesday’s series finale of “Pretty Little Liars”)
“Pretty Little Liars” finally unmasked the mysterious A.D. midway through Tuesday’s series finale, and it was a doozy.
After a few misdirects, Spencer is taken by Mona to A.D.’s bunker where she’s met by none other than her mother Mary
Alex, after meeting Wren by happenstance at a bar in London, had grown close to her sister Charlotte before Charlotte returned to Rosewood to torture the Liars as CeCe
Throughout Season 7, Alex has been pretending to be Spencer at a few opportune moments, including the time Hannah “hallucinated” seeing Spencer while she was being held captive and the time Toby hooked up with Spencer shortly after Yvonne’s death. And in the finale, she’s taken Spencer hostage and plans to take her place in the world.
Some savvy fans had long-predicted the twist, but others were clearly stunned by the development, based on some of the reactions on social media. The revelation that “Twincer,” as she’s been dubbed, has an accent was a particularly nice surprise.
See some of the reaction below:
but when I rewatch this series to piece it together, HOW am I supposed to know when it's Spencer and when it's Twincer ??#pll #pllendgame pic.twitter.com/TYhMSTWOoB

So far Wren dying and Twincer being British are the only surprising parts of this finale

Toby's the worst cop in all of human history but he puts Twincer together in 90 secs off an empty book and a horse. #BooRadleyVanCullen #pll
