President Obama really likes Kansas. At least where college basketball is concerned.
For the third year in a row, the President took to ESPN to fill out his bracket for the NCAA men's tournament, which kicked off Tuesday night.
And once again, Obama selected the University of Kansas to win the whole shebang. He was apparently undaunted by recent history; last year, lowly Northern Iowa upset No. 1 Kansas in the second round.
"I'm giving them a chance at redemption," said Obama, a noted basketball aficionado.
He made his picks in the White House Library as part of ESPN's annual "Barack-etology" segment. The clip debuted Wednesday afternoon on "SportsCenter."
"I think that Kansas has more firepower," said President Obama, explaining to college basketball analyst Andy Katz why the Jayhawks would upstage Ohio State University in the tournament's final game.
Each team is a No. 1 seed and plays its first game on Friday night.
Obama's own alma maters have had a rough tournament history. Columbia University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in 1983, hasn't made the NCAA tournament since 1968.
Harvard, where the President picked up his law degree in 1988, hasn't taken part in the increasingly popular event since 1946. Princeton extended Harvard's tournament misery last week when it defeated the Crimson in the Ivy League championship game with a last-second shot.
