Post Malone edged past pop star Ariana Grande and wunderkind Billie Eilish for the most 2019 American Music Awards nominations when the nominees were shared on Thursday morning.
Malone grabbed seven nominations, including for Artist of the Year and Favorite Male Artist for Pop and Rock music. He’s won two AMA awards in previous years. Grande and Eilish both earned six nominations each and will be competing against each other in several categories, including for Favorite Female Artist for Pock and Rock. This is the first time Eilish has been nominated for an AMA award.
“Old Town Road” star Lil Nas X tied Taylor Swift with five AMA nominations. Swift recently released “Lover,” her seventh studio album; she’ll be competing against Malone, Drake, Grande and Halsey for the Artist of the Year award.
The AMAs will be broadcast live on Nov. 24, 2019 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
