"Playing for Keeps" is not playing well for critics. And not just most critics.
TheWrap's Alonso Duralde described Gerard Butler's new rom-com soccer movie as "dreadful" and even went as far as to call it an "extended penalty kick to the groin."
Apparently many of his colleagues (at least 50 of them) agree because the movie has garnered a zero-percent rating on critics aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Ouch.
That rating puts it in line with other not-so classic films, including "In the Army Now," "A Kid in King Arthur's Court" and "Highlander II: The Quickening."
It has been a bad year for Butler, who earlier this year starred in "Chasing Mavericks," which was panned by critics as well. As the Toronto Globe and Mail's Liam Lacey put it in his review of "Playing for Keeps," "Butler beware: In acting as in soccer, if you keep taking dives, sooner or later you pay the penalty."

He's not the only Hollywood star who fouled either. Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Dennis Quaid and Catherine Zeta-Jones also headline this movie, which may be worse than the one that claimed this year's worst-ever box office bow — "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure."
But even "Oogieloves," which opened to just $448,000 over Labor Day weekend, had some admirers (29 percent of the same number of critics that hated "Playing for Keeps," to be exact).
