“Black Mirror” is once again hitting too close to home — when Pizza Hut unveiled its new plan for a driverless vehicle delivery van, fans of the Netflix series started freaking out.
On Monday, the restaurant chain unveiled its concept for a “fully autonomous delivery concept vehicle,” which bore so much resemblance to the driverless vehicle used by fictionalized Fences Pizza in the “Crocodile” episode from the fourth season.
So much so that the pizza chain’s announcement prompted the show to post a statement on Twitter. “We know how it goes,” the Twitter handle of the show tweeted. In the new season of the Netflix show, one of these vehicles crashes into a pedestrian, which snowballs into major problems for many of the episode’s characters.

Fans were quick to weigh in.
“Didn’t anyone in Pizza Hut watch Black Mirror? Lol,” wrote one user.
“Yeah my pedestrian days are over… l’m never walking the street again,” wrote another.
According to the official press release, Pizza Hut and Toyota are partnering up to “explore the future of pizza delivery.” Toyota’s self-driving concept vehicle will be called e-Palette and Pizza Hut is one of the founding members of the new alliance that also includes Amazon, Didi, Mazda and Uber.
A spokesperson for Pizza Hut has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
