NBC's long-planned "The Paul Reiser Show," in which the "Mad About You" actor will play himself, will debut next month, replacing "Perfect Couples" in the network's Thursday-night comedy block.
The sitcom marks the actor's return to the network that aired his hit "Mad About You." Reiser, a past "Curb Your Enthusiasm" guest, will borrow a page from the show by playing a version of himself as he tries to decide what to do with his life now that his hit sitcom has gone off the air. The show will premiere on Thursday, April 14 at 8:30 p.m.
There was no word on the fate of NBC's ratings-challenged "Perfect Couples," which TheWrap predicted earlier this week to be doomed.
"The Paul Reiser Show," created by Reiser and Jonathan Shapiro ("Life"), centers around Reiser living with his wife Claire (Amy Landecker, "A Serious Man") and kids.
As he writes and produces television shows, a group of cohorts and basketball buddies — Jonathan (Ben Shenkman, "Angels in America"), Habib (Omid Djalili,"The Infidel"), Fernando (Duane Martin, "All of Us") and Brad (Andrew Daly, "MADtv") — get him into trouble.
