How do we even begin to describe Paul McCartney’s “Carpool Karaoke”? James Corden’s Liverpool installment of his recurring “Late Late Show” sketch was the longest and perhaps best version the CBS show has put out to-date.
The Beatles legend showed Corden around his native city, and the two even visited Paul’s childhood home, where he wrote music with John Lennon.
Later, McCartney and his band performed an entire set for unsuspecting patrons of a local pub. Appropriately, the whole concert — and sketch — ended with “Hey Jude.”
Aside from the closer, the loveliest part of the episode was when McCartney told Corden the story behind “Let It Be.” Corden had a good cry over it.
