Tributes began pouring in after news broke of actress Patty Duke’s death on Tuesday morning.
“Very saddened on the passing of Patty Duke,” William Shatner tweeted. “She was a wonderful friend on Twitter. Condolences to her family.”
Duke’s son, “Lord of the Rings” and “Rudy” star Sean Astin wrote a heartfelt Instagram tribute to his mother.
“This morning, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian, and champion for mental health, Anna PATTY DUKE Pearce, closed her eyes, quieted her pain and ascended to a beautiful place,” he said, while linking to a CrowdRise mental health project to honor his mother, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1982.
Other celebrities like Lynda Carter, Alyssa Milano and Marlee Matlin also sent their love to the family and friends of the “Miracle Worker” actress, who won an Oscar for that role in 1963.
