Party Report: Seth MacFarlane’s Night on the Town

The “Family Guy” creator offered friends and neighbors an evening out – Paris Hilton optional

Singing along to a 60 piece orchestra in his backyard with Frank Sinatra Jr. and over 40 boldface pals, Seth MacFarlane threw himself the kind of party that ends up getting referenced in Hollywood memoirs. Kate WalshWinona RyderRashida JonesMolly RingwaldCuba Gooding Jr., the Hilton sisters, and Dr. Drew Pinsky were just some of the salad of household names at the Rat Pack themed gala that included a full casino and Cirque du Soleil performances.

Party-philes Bill MaherJeremy Piven, and Mark Salling (who was too cool for the vintage dress code and showed up in a white t-shirt) also hit MacFarlane’s manse off of Benedict Canyon on Saturday night. As a good neighbor, the host offered his neighbors an invite or a night on the town (including car service) on his dime. I got ahold of the amicable “neighbor letter" here.

Svedka kept the cocktails flowing at the Night Vision-produced event. At left, Fox’s Sunday night showrunner with David Arquette and Jeff Beacher, hours before Arquette strategically waited for the gossip weeklies to close on Monday night before announcing his separation with wife/Scream co-star Courtney Cox (Arquette?).

Tough Judge

Cheryl Hines is the latest HBO star producing an unscripted project, and talked up this Friday’s premiere of NBC’s “School Pride” at the Alfred E. Mann Foundation’s annual gala on Sunday night. Sarah Jessica Parker and Adrien Grenier have already debuted reality or documentary projects this year. (Disclosure: I served as an ambassador by hosting a table of media colleagues at the event and have an existing personal relationship with the event’s publicist.)

Nigel Lythgoe critiqued choreographer pal Debbie Allen’s professional dance troupe at the Argentinean themed event, and told TheWrap that he thought the new judges have been “too lenient” on pushing Idol auditioners“through to Hollywood Week” so far. “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Kyle Richards was also front and center at the event.

In the run up to Bravo’s Thursday night premiere, the local women have been hitting the party circuit. On Monday, Camille Grammer. (far left), Bravo’s Frances Berwick (center), Evolution’s Doug RossAlex Baskin, and the rest of the housewives celebrated at the appropriate hotspot that is a 30-second walk from the brown “Welcome to Beverly Hills” sign — Trousdale Lounge.

Tougher Judges

In between the post-elimination press tour of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and a 5:20 A.M. interview on “Good Morning America,” "Dancing with the Stars" eliminee Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino hit the Doctrine clothing launch party at Boudoir around midnight on Tuesday to help promote his own vodka Devotion, an event sponsor. His management team told TheWrap they were looking forward to monetizing the "Jersey Shore" star’s sudden availability. If only this week’s dance had been “the hustle.”
