Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers
These glasses will not help Meyers with his late-night show’s signature segment, “A Closer Look.” The two former “Weekend Update” anchors linked up at the Worldwide Orphans Gala at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday night.
Awards Season is Here
Jake Gyllenhaal, Jacob Tremblay, Salma Hayek, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon were amongst the contenders huddling up at the Golden Globes’ kickoff party at Catch in West Hollywood this week.
Adrien Brody and Ben Foster at AFI Fest presented by Audi
These two old friends and former co-stars reunited at the Hollywood Roosevelt after-party for Scott Cooper’s awards-contending film on Wednesday night (Nov. 15). Foster stars with Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike in the period drama that arrives on Dec. 22.
Jermaine Dupri, Stevie Wonder and Usher
The Orchard premiered “People You May Know” at the Grove on Nov. 13 and at the post-party held at Hyde Sunset, Dupri and Wonder were spotted supporting their friend Usher (who appears in the film).
Tom Ford and Gwyneth Paltrow
As the headline awardee, Paltrow helped Baby2Baby raise $4 million for children in need at the family-focused philanthropy’s gala on Nov. 11.
Baby2Baby
Culver City is never this glam: Jessica Biel, Zoe Saldana, Rachel Bilson, Jaime King, Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, Rachel Zoe and Kelly Rowland gathered at the 6th annual Baby2Baby Gala, presented by Paul Mitchell this week. By Thursday, Rowland would be at Serena Williams’ wedding in New Orleans.
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren
The actress-turned-entreprenuer brought the best accessory to the Saturday night fundraiser: a bump. Highlights included Jon and Vinny’s food stations and a performance from ’90s girl group SWV.
EDC Orlando
It’s Thanksgiving, but festival season is not over yet! Over 80,000 fans flocked to EDC Orlando at Tinker Field on November 10-11.
Kaskade
Fear not, Kaskade has not fallen off the top shelf. The A-lister got creative by signing on to play the technologically strapped Circuit Grounds at sunset. That was nearly six hours before the heavyweight closers. Circuit Grounds, the second largest stage and LED cocoon, is a favorite of the “Never Sleep Alone” producer. He played it at EDC Las Vegas too.
Diplo
Diplo (left) began the week at this festival in his home state. He spun a back-to-back set with L.A. favorite A-Trak. By Thursday night, Diplo pal Dillon Francis would catch his pal Diplo catnapping backstage at the Latin Grammys in Vegas and post video coverage to Instagram.
GAIA
Speaking of Vegas, the KineticGAIA stage traveled across the country to overwhelm fans. In the crowd, totems included Insomniac’s mantra “All Are Welcome Here” and “Orlando United,” a nod to last year’s tragedy at Pulse Nightclub.
Rezz
Look out for Rezz. The 22-year-old lady with the hypnotic glasses and the techno sold out The Warfield in San Francisco days after EDC Orlando.
Iggy Azalea
The “Fancy” singer was the star of the show at the launch of new smart coffee mug Ember at Goya Studios in Hollywood on Nov. 8. “You know @ember is good when the team you come with attempt to steal all their coffee mugs,” she wrote on Instagram after performing some of her hit songs, including “Black Widow.”
Ember CEO and founder Clay Alexander hosted the event, which served up temperature-controlled cocktails for the “What’s Your Number” theme, such as Apple Cinder, Tequila Sunset (a take on a hot toddy) and the Fire and Ice coffee cocktail. Alexander gave “Dancing With the Stars” pro Derek Hough a hands-on demo, while hanging out with Dave Osokow and Holland Alexander.
“Twilight” actress Ashley Greene kept warm on a surprisingly chilly Los Angeles night by clutching her temperature-controlled mug.
“Modern Family” 200
No, that’s not the number of Emmy nominations the hit comedy has notched since its 2009 debut. It’s a milestone cake for the 200th episode, shot last week. The creators, cast, and executives (including Gary Newman and Dana Walden from 20th TV, far left) and Channing Dungey (ABC’s Entertainment President, far right) huddled for an on-set celebration.
Anthony Kiedis
The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman was among the hundreds of people who came out in support of kids with special needs and their families for the Walk on Water event at Malibu Surfrider Beach on Saturday. The rocker got involved with the organization through president and friend Steve Lippman. “It is amazing what it does for people who are sick, those who aren’t sick, kids, adults,” Kiedis told TheWrap. “It is just magical.”
Instructors and top-ranked pro surfers such as Courtney Conlogue were among those out in the water assisting the kids. “Surfing is such good [therapy] because it involves the ocean, and the ocean is like a big, giant, salt water healing machine,” Kiedis said. “Then you have this wave, which is full of energy that just traveled from 4,000 miles away. And when it releases that, there’s a euphoria involved and you are part of it.”
One of those who clearly feels that euphoria was A Walk on Water’s surfing ambassa-dog Haole, who caught plenty of waves throughout the day. Unlike Haole, Kiedis didn’t start surfing until later in life. “I didn’t even contemplate surfing until I was in my 40s and I moved out here [to Malibu] and a I met a chap who said ‘it’s time to learn,’” Kiedis told TheWrap. “I am pretty sure I will surf until the day I die.”

Also by the shore, Mattel’s Party on the Pier brought out 65 young influencers as a benefit for UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. The top draws: Hunter Summerall, Brec Bassinger, Dylan Summerall, Hayden Summerall and Carson Lueders, who have over 6 million followers combined.
Sharon Stone
Over on the other coast, Stone toasted her cover of Haute Living Miami with a dinner party at the Miami Beach EDITION hotel. She’ll soon be on a press tour for HBO’s Steven Soderbergh-directed “choose your own adventure” TV show “Mosaic.”
Girlboss’ Sophia Amoruso and Bumble Bizz’s Whitney Wolfe
The night before a sold-out 600-person Girlboss Rally on Nov. 11, the two innovators hosted a Founders’ Dinner amongst peers at the Cadillac House.
Bumble Founder & CEO Whitney Wolfe, Rebecca Minkoff Creative Director Rebecca Minkoff, Girlboss Founder & CEO Sophia Amoruso, and author Gabby Bernstein.
Doug Ellin and Chef Eduardo Garcia
At the Downtown Independent, Garcia celebrated the premiere of “Charged,” his comeback story documentary about how he recovered from losing his hand, ribs and nearly his life after being shocked by 2400 volts of electricity in a freak accident while hiking in the Montana backcountry.
Ashley Greene x Rise Nation x HPE
Ashley Greene burnt off any calories she consumed at the Ember launch (and then some!) when she took part in a charity climb on Wednesday hosted by Rise Nation and HPE to benefit those affected by the Northern California Wildfires. When asked (still sweating) about the class, she told TheWrap: “I train with Jason Walsh who created it, so he introduced me to Rise Nation. It is the same challenge if you’ve come 45 times or it’s your first time as you’re always striving for the next level – once you get 3,000 feet you want 3,500. It is always super intense, but really fun. I’ve used the VersaClimber outside of class before and only lasted five minutes, but in here you’re going along with the music and you get out of your head.”
As for the scientifically-engineered HPE (Human Performance Engineering) Clothing, Greene (with Walsh) said she loved it. “I think it’s a really amazing thing when you have workout gear that actually enhances your workout and is benefitting you, rather than just looking great! You don’t sweat as much and it helps with bacteria. Plus it’s just the right amount of compression,” she said.
Christmas came early on Thursday at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — and was unusually snow-clad for southern California – with a media preview of the light spectacular “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle.” Karen Irwin, President & COO, Universal Studios Hollywood, launched the show, with a little help from a troupe of Hogwarts students and their trusty wands. “This exciting new holiday program further expands the Harry Potter universe by bringing some of the holiday spirit from the films to life for guests to experience for themselves,” Irwin said.
Guests were treated to an a cappella performance by the Frog Choir of “Christmas at Hogwarts,” before wandering around the snow-clad cottages of Hogsmeade drinking butter beer and pumpkin juice.
No holiday dinner is complete without turkey and stuffing, and the chefs at the Three Broomsticks served up a traditional platter including pigs in blankets, a medley of vegetables, braised red cabbage and roasted potatoes served with cranberry sauce, along with Christmas Pudding. Anyone with space left in their stomachs headed over to Honeydukes to stock up on chocolate frogs, fizzing whizbees and no-melt ice cream. “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” experience begins Nov. 24.
