The second episode of Fox’s “Party Over Here” took a dig at Donald Trump with a demand that the studio audience pledge undying loyalty to the show.
Stars Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna and Alison Rich asked fans to recite: “I will commit my life to ‘Party Over Here.’ I shall chuckle when called upon to chuckle … I pledge my honor to ‘Party Over Here’ for this show and all the shows to come.”
Trump, the GOP frontrunner for his party’s nomination for the presidency, recently asked supporters to take a pledge to vote for him.
At the show’s opening, Rich and her castmates read the show oath, with the audience pledging allegiance: “I will commit my life to Party Over Here. I shall chuckle when called upon to chuckle … I pledge my honor to Party Over Here for this show and all the shows to come.”
“Party Over Here” — the brainchild of the Lonely Island comedy trio of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, and comedian-actor Paul Scheer — pursues the sketch comedy format with a layer cake of pre-taped comedy shorts and segments of interaction with a studio audience at the Alexandria Hotel in Los Angeles.
The show’s other highlights included an intense liplock with a tall, dark, handsome prospect, and the Crazy Gravy Challenge, with all three actresses engaging in an onstage gravy-drinking contest.
“Party Over Here” airs on Fox Saturdays at 11/10C.
