Graham King and his GK Films has signed a three-year first-look production deal with Paramount, both companies announced Wednesday.
King, who has produced films like “The Departed,” “Blood Diamond,” “The Town” and “Allied,” is set to move his company onto the Paramount lot. King is currently in production for the “Tomb Raider” reboot starring Alicia Vikander, which will hit theaters next March. He is also in pre-production on the Freddie Mercury story “Bohemian Rhapsody,” starring Rami Malek with Bryan Singer directing.
Under the non-exclusive deal, King will develop and produce films through his GK Films banner. King and Paramount chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos have had a close relationship for years.
“Jim is not only a dear friend, but also one of the best in the industry and I couldn’t be more excited to have him as a partner in the next chapter of GK Films,” said King. “Having worked with Paramount on several projects, I’m beyond thrilled to now be able to call the studio home.”
Gianopulos added, “Graham not only has keen artistic and commercial tastes, but he also is one of the most prolific producers in this industry. It’s my pleasure to welcome him to our Paramount family and we all look forward to many successful collaborations for years to come.”
GK Films has produced more than 45 films. King’s most recent credit is “Allied,” starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, for Paramount. He also previously collaborated with Paramount on “World War Z,” “Hugo” and “Rango.” King won a Best Picture Oscar as a producer on Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” — his other credits include “Traffic,” “The Aviator” and “Gangs of New York.”
