Overture Films will distribute "Stone," starring Robert De Niro and Edward Norton, in the U.S. Milla Jovovich and Frances Conroy also star.
John Curran, who directed Norton in "The Painted Veil," takes the reins on the dramatic thriller, scripted by Angus MacLachlan ("Junebug").
The film is centers on a convicted arsonist (Norton) who looks to manipulate a parole officer (De Niro) into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife (Jovovich) in the lawman’s path.
Overture CEO Chris McGurk and chief operating officer Danny Rosett announced the deal Monday.
The film is financed by Mimran Schur Pictures and Millennium Films and produced by David Mimran, Jordan Schur and Holly Wiersma with Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short as executive producers. Nu Image is handling international sales.
Overture’s current releases include "The Men Who Stare at Goats" and "Law Abiding Citizen." The company will release "The Crazies," "Jack Goes Boating" and "Brooklyn’s Finest" in the first quarter of 2010.
