On Wednesday, the first trailer for the mystery-clad film “Overlord” was dropped, in which a group of soldiers stumble upon things they wish they hadn’t.
It shows a team of Allied paratroopers dropping into France during World War II, where they discover supernatural and inhumane experiments being conducted by the Nazis. Among them is a woman who is literally nothing but a head and a spinal cord.
“Some questions aren’t good answers,” Wyatt Russell’s character says.
Jovan Adepo, Jacob Anderson, and “Black Mirror” star Russell, the film is the first R-Rated film released by Abrams’ production company Bad Robot. Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith wrote the screenplay, while Julius Avery directed.
Producer J.J. Abrams said at CinemaCon in April that contrary to what had been rumored, “Overlord” is not part of the “Cloverfield” series. As for “Cloverfield,” Abrams promised that a separate film is currently in production, and unlike “The Cloverfield Paradox,” which premiered on Netflix on Super Bowl Sunday, this one will be released in theaters.
“Overlord” will hit theaters on Oct. 26.
